Girls Weekend Away ....

Well what a great time was had by our MACG Quilters who joined about 30 quilters in Gympie last weekend.
This has been an annual pilgrimage for many years with a chance to get away from all those other responsibilities and get together as a group and not worry about the daily meals or those weeds in the garden.
As can be seen from the photos there was plenty of sewing but with plenty of chat, eating and the occasional glass or three.
It is amazing when we all get together to see the huge talent that is within the group and all are looking forward to having many of these quilts on display at the MACG Quilt Show in September.

Aileen Shaw Workshop

Award winning Sunshine Coast painter and tutor Aileen Shaw spent a day with the MACG Fine Artists this week.
Aileen's unique method of teaching painting saw the entire group painting the same subject - a clump of Grass Trees.
The result was twenty paintings, similar, but quite different, with all showing off the artist's style.

Happy Clay Workers having fun!

Morning tea with an update on the news.

Than back to work it is, some hand building others concentrating on the wheel ...

Every Thursday morning we meet at our wonderful workshop to play with clay, exploring the different clay types, glazes etc. We are lucky to have all the facilities there with 2 kilns to fire our pieces, a slab roller, pug mill to recycle our clay and lots of elbow room to work.

MACG on show ...

Over the weekend of 29/30 may the Maleny Agricultural Society ran the Annual maleny Show ... and true to form the gods gave us a rain drenched weekend ...
But the water didn't dampen the spirit of visitors and exhibitors alike.
This was the first time MACG opened our doors to the show goers and all groups set-up a small display in the MACG Workshop.
We had lots of visitors - who enjoyed the arts and crafts - and getting in out of the rain ! ... we had good sales and even a few new members ...
Well done Sue - for coordinating the display - and all the demonstrators and volunteers who worked over the weekend. Maybe next year we will have a fine wekend ...
